Frankfurt-based LHS Group's BSCS customer care and billing software is used by telecommunications providers around the world; it helps them quickly introduce and invoice new services and tariff models. The company decided to switch the software's platform from Gupta to .NET, opening up the UI to more modern presentation standards such as Microsoft Office style and Windows Presentation Foundation. To port the 450,000 lines of code comprising the Gupta source code, fecher used its tool-supported service, 'The Porting Project'.
By switching to the .NET framework, we now have a stable foundation, which we will be able to develop further for many years to come. And since our front-end is now pure Microsoft technology, supporting new Windows versions and new system environments no longer present major challenges.
