Story: GL Software Solutions’ Access-Based Solution Becomes a Modern Web Application
From an Access Front End to a Browser-Based .NET Web Architecture
iRES+ is a specialized solution for technical property management and is used to manage large commercial real estate portfolios. Developed continuously since 2010, the software was based on a Microsoft Access front end with a SQL Server back end and was increasingly reaching its technological limits. To secure the product’s future, GL Software Solutions decided on a comprehensive modernization—with the goal of fully preserving the existing functionality while moving iRES+ to a modern web architecture.
Working with fecher, the application was modernized in a structured, tool-based migration project. The new iRES+ is built on an HTML5-capable .NET web architecture using C#, Visual Studio 2022, and Wisej.NET. The data remains in SQL Server, while the entire front end is now browser-based. This eliminates the need for local installations on end-user devices while preserving familiar interaction patterns. After just under 16 months, the web version was ready for acceptance and now provides the technological foundation for the continued development of iRES+.
